Allah azza wa jal says in the Qurán:
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَسْرَىٰ بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلًا مِّنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الْأَقْصَى الَّذِي بَارَكْنَا حَوْلَهُ لِنُرِيَهُ مِنْ آيَاتِنَا ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْبَصِيرُ
Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al- Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing. [17:1]
However there is no authenticated date found by the Scholars of Islam in the books of Ahadeeth which specifies that a particular date is to be celebrated for Al Isra'a w'al Mir'aaj. A lot of people around the World have started rituals of innovations on this day, some fasting, others sending food to each other and so on. The Prophet صلي الله عليه وسلم never celebrated this night or event and nor did the Sahaba رضي الله عنهم after his death, so doing so now is in truth doing bid'a [innovation].
There is a very good article explaining this by Islam Q & A which I'll link here.
With regard to this night on which the Isra’ and Mi’raaj took place, there is nothing in the saheeh ahaadeeth to indicate that it is in Rajab or in any other month. Everything that has been narrated concerning a specific date for these events cannot be proven to have come from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) according to the scholars of hadeeth.
